Hi there!

My name's Maëlle, and I am a foundation student specialising in graphic design. <...

This project celebrates the unifying power of live music in local venues. I want to show how it sparks a feeling of awe, builds community, and brings people of all ages together despite the stigmas between us. By encouraging people to step out of their comfort zones, interact, and share meaningful experiences, my project aims to inspire a deeper appreciation of live music's power to bring us together.

Along the way, I've documented the stories and moments that make life feel more vibrant, connected, and full of meaning

My aims of celebrating, sparking interest and encouraging interaction at local live music venues are carried out in the form of a short advertising film, a strip poster and a series of photos.

Final work

Poster

"Venues" poster

After reading an article about the alarming number of small Live music venues shutting down across London, I was inspired to create a poster that champions local, affordable venues and encourages all music lovers to check them out.

Photo series

"Music Memories" photo series

This is an ensemble of printed photos of local music lovers, from "The Half Moon" music bar, holding up their favourite souvenir from a past live music experience. My aim is getting locals interested in each others experiences aswell as revealing similar or different tastes. This could hopefully create interesting and nostalgic conversations.

Short film

"Night out" short film

Link: https://youtu.be/tgCPl-A0f2I?feature=shared

This short explores a simultaneous transition between a woman and her younger self as they each get ready for a night out at a live music event.

Through mirrored moments of joy, style, and anticipation, this film captures the universal excitement of preparing for a night of sound and connection.

The project aims to:

- Celebrate the fun and self-expression we feel when getting ready to go out

- Remind audiences that we are never too young or too old to enjoy ourselves

- Promote live music venues as vital spaces of energy, identity, and community

- Encourage a shared love for nightlife and music as a universal passion
