THE JOY BOOK

Lydia Miller

Summary

Final work

I'm an illustration student who will soon be studying Graphic Communication at Central Saint Martins. This project combines hand-drawn elements with playful design, often inspired by everyday overlooked moments. I have enjoyed observing people in their routines, capturing these random yet sweet interactions. I create with the hope of making people smile, laugh, or just pause for a second look.

WHAT SPARKS AN UNEXPECTED SMILE?

THE FIRST BITE INTO A CRUNCHY GREEN APPLE… STRANGERS IN MATCHING OUTFITS… 'THE JOY BOOK' AIMS TO EXPLORE THE SMALL, OFTEN OVERLOOKED MOMENTS THAT QUIETLY BRING JOY TO SOMEONE'S HEART. USING THE RISOGRAPH PRINTING PROCESS AND HAND-STITCHING, I CREATED A PUBLICATION THAT HUMOROUSLY AND INTIMATELY HIGHLIGHTS 6 RARE BUT RELATABLE EXPERIENCES, AIMING TO DRAW ATTENTION TO THE BEAUTY IN EVERYDAY MOMENTS.
