# Project Description Other Spaces Ly-Ann Kõllo Summary Final work College School of Pre-Degree Studies Course UAL Foundation Diploma in Art and Design Graduation year 2025 This project responds to London’s housing crisis by proposing a social housing intervention in Somers Town. Informed by Alva Gotby’s Feeling At Home and research into informal housing in high-density areas like Brazilian favelas, the design challenges the effects of gentrification and questions who architecture is really for. Developed through collage, sketching, and model-making, the proposal extends a half-demolished building to create affordable, sustainable homes. Reclaimed materials and modular construction reduce environmental impact while maintaining community identity. The design prioritizes reuse and spatial dignity, offering a thoughtful, low-cost solution that resists displacement and supports long-term urban resilience.
