College London College of Fashion Course BA (Hons) Fashion Textiles: Embroidery Graduation year 2025 ‘No Straight Lines’ reflects the fluidity of cultural exchange and artistic exploration, where influences from diverse traditions and places are woven together in unexpected, non-linear ways to create a collection that is both rooted in heritage and forward-thinking in design. Combining visual references ranging from Egyptian and Danish ceramics to domestic floral arrangements and the cultivated beauty of English National Trust gardens, this collection brings together diverse influences in a cohesive and contemporary way. Bridging heritage with modern design, the work is realised through a multidisciplinary process that includes appliqué, sublimation printing, hand embellishment, digital loop and chain stitch, lino printing, and digital embroidery. The result is an artisanal, bespoke textile range created for the boutique luxury fashion sector. This embroidery project is shaped by a dynamic fusion of cultural heritage and the arts, drawn from my travels across the UK and Europe. As the English saying goes, ‘East or West, home is best’, and while I explore the world for artistic inspiration, it is back in the studio, grounded by the creative influence of home, that these ideas take form. Influences such as historical patterns, interiors, paintings, and ceramics encountered in museums, galleries, and national estates are reinterpreted to create a vibrant and eclectic body of work.
