Series Illustration Inspired by Marlen Haushofer’s book ‘The Wall’(1963).

Etching, 30*20cm

‘The Wall’ (1963) exposes the fragility of our civilisation and its structures through an isolated scenario. With the background of post-WW2 effects and female substantive inequality, it sees nature as a brutal, but realistic space for rebuilding. 'The whole meaning of an event lies in the event itself' (Haushofer, 1963), indicating an existential and instinctive way of living.

My illustration series responded to a moment in the text. The printings intend to grasp the vulnerable emotional flow in the text, remember it, and build a wider sense of feeling.
