# Project Description I hear you roar of a life that is forever Lilla Egg Summary Final work Lilla Egg Koskiluoma is a Swiss-Finnish Fashion and Textile Designer who is graduating from the Fashion Print BA at Central Saint Martins in July 2024. Egg grew up in Zürich, Switzerland. Finding joy from a young age in artistic endeavours – such as playing the cello, drawing and painting – she later obtained her Matura diploma at a Swiss-Italian Art Highschool before moving to London where she completed Fashion Folio Stage One and the Fashion and Textile Foundation course at Central Saint Martins. As part of her BA placement year, she worked at Henrik Vibskov in Copenhagen as a fashion and textile design intern, as well as gaining more screen-printing experience by assisting in the TDS screen printing factory in Arbon, Switzerland. Egg is fluent in Swiss German, German, English and Italian. In her practice Egg focuses on hand craftsmanship and working with natural materials, experimenting with techniques such as screen printing, painting, drawing, embroidery, crochet and knit. Creating stories and characters for each of her projects are a fundamental part of Lilla Egg’s work. In her research, she draws inspiration from her connection to nature, literature, and stories that she dreams up herself. College Central Saint Martins Course BA (Hons) Fashion Design: Print Graduation year 2024 ‘The trees talk softly Swaying their arms above my head Telling stories of living beings forgotten long ago My body in their dappled light’ Based on a story dreamt up while floating on the surface of a remote Finnish lake, Lilla Egg’s graduate collection follows its protagonist as they enter the depths of a golden-green body of water – sensing, yet not knowing that they create a bond with the spirit that inhabits the lake. As the protagonist is observing the textures and colours of the water, they notice a storm brewing above them. Sensing that the lake will not let any harm come to them they decide to stay in the water and watch the interplay of clouds and sky unfold on the surface of the lake. While being carried by its waves, lightning strikes - pushing the protagonist deep into the heart of the water. The lake pulls the protagonist into a protecting embrace, which eventually leads to the shedding of their human skin and becoming one with their fluid guardian. ‘Holding on to my descent I see the world out of your reach In the colours of your body Green escape, murky and soft’ As I hear you roar Of a life that is forever The sun is painting my insides bright And I lean back So far I only see the endless blue’ The collection emphasises the importance of hand craftsmanship and use of natural materials. The first two looks which portray the stage of ‘pre-metamorphoses’ are knitted from dead-stock silk, viscose, and wool yarns sponsored to Egg by Zürcher-Stalder AG in Switzerland. In a second step, the knitted pieces have been printed on with her own photographs of her hometown lake. The third and fourth look– which represent the state of being consumed by the lightning and becoming part of the water’s spirit – are made from over forty hand-woven raffia pieces that have been draped around the body, creating sculptural silhouettes covered in Egg’s photographs as well as screen printed elements. ‘A piece of the heavens Has found its way to my core And my heart’s beat is replaced By a story repeated Over and over In a whisper You take my flesh And soften my form I am dissolving into your murky soul’ Final work Share this project ‘The trees talk softlySwaying their arms above my headTelling stories of living beings forgotten long agoMy body in their dappled light’Based on a story dreamt up while floating on the surface of a remo...
