I am a multimedia artist with a background in both animation and illustration, heavily focusing on honing my skills as a hyperrealism artist using ballpoint pens. When I was younger, I spent all the free time I had trying to become as perfect in production as physically possible. Now with a primary focus on pen, ink and acrylic marker pieces, taking inspiration from my background growing up lower class in Newcastle. I focus on creating Dark Art realism, delving into social issues and class disparity, looking into the mental health issues caused by the oppression and division from economic injustice.

Within my art, I focus on creating weird worlds using abstract imagery to produce work that can allow people to sit and consume the meaning and messages involved. Metaphors are an essential toolin whichI find is the best way to allow for engagement into my work, intentional references are a way to pack my work with context without making my work feel too forceful with the heavy context of my material, I have learned that leading without shouting is the best way for the audience to engage with the work I produce.

Whether it is creating hyper-realistic canvas pieces or producing a whole three-dimensional set to place the viewer into my work. I have a heavy focus on how the audience engages with my work, producing work that will allow individuals to really feel the context, gravitas and societal weight of the subjects I address.

This showcase serves as the process and pivot from which I have expanded the way I format my work. During this time, I have extensively explored ways in which the context and presentation enable me to create a more intimate and intense experience for the viewer through shared language.

My intention through this project was to create a visual space to promote my work and allow the meaning and context to become more vivid and thought-provoking, this enabled me to tailor the experience using standard and unconventional means of production and presentation.

Through canvas and wall-mounted pieces, I have found a way to express in a more conventional way of creation, along with three-dimensional formats that allowed me to build a scene for these mediums to intersect.

Final work

3 wall mounted works one smaller canvas of a multi faced person, second is painted mirror and window piece, last larger red canvas of woman in room
