College Central Saint Martins Course BA (Hons) Graphic Communication Design Graduation year 2025 Drawing from my experience with chronic neck pain, I built a speculative narrative that explores future dependence on body-enhancing technologies. Set in 2075, the story follows a wearable device that quietly evolves into a parasitic system—shaping behavior and eroding autonomy. Through medical files, leaked documents, and interactive choices, I invite viewers to engage with a world where ethics lag behind innovation. Have we already accepted a future no longer shaped by our intentions, but by the technologies we allow in? Final work This letter, written by an anonymous hacker, serves as a narrative entry point to the project. It reveals that a doctor discovered serious anomalies after using an enhancement device and attempted to expose the truth—only to disappear without a trace. The hacker breached the system and released her findings to the public. This document introduces the story’s context and marks the beginning of a deeper inquiry into technological abuse and ethical failure. This is a set of investigative records compiled from a doctor's perspective, presented in a private notebook. It includes handwritten notes, medical reports, X-ray images, and leaked files. These layered materials serve as direct clues used by the doctor to trace and uncover the truth behind a body-enhancement device, documenting the full course of the investigation and their thought process. These 3D-printed models were used by the doctor to demonstrate the negative outcomes of the enhancement device. Stored with reports and notes, they feature alien-like forms that hint at the disturbing impact of unchecked technological intervention on the human body. To enrich the narrative and simulate how the public might encounter the incident, the project includes a long, vertically formatted illustration styled as a piece of future news. It depicts a story where a user of the enhancement device collapses in a public space. As a piece of “fake news,” it expands the context beyond the doctor’s documents and offers a public-facing account of the event. Below, a blueprint-style diagram presents the structural design of the device, contributing to the visual development of the speculative technology.
