Profile picture of Kavya Dhruva

Hi! I’m Kavya and I love working intricately with patterns, textures, and textiles, drawing inspiration from South Asian design, folk art, and everyday memories. My work weaves together personal experience and cultural heritage, using fabric, detailed motifs, and layered surfaces to tell stories that feel both intimate and collective. It’s my way of honouring where I come from while exploring where I’m going.

Katha, translates to “story” in Sanskrit, and acts as a visual memoir that explores the power of narrative in shaping identity. This artwork is a reflection of the narratives I grew up with, built on stories and experiences, and takes form as ever evolving portrait of who I am. This piece captures my fascination with the art of storytelling that transcends communication but is perceived as a form of self expression. This piece invites viewers to reflect on their own stories, and how the act of remembering and reimagining can become a powerful form of art in itself. Katha is rooted in the belief that we are made up of the stories we inherit, absorb, and create, and that these narratives continuously transform as we grow.
