# Project Description Hyperlink *?~. Karen Xu Summary Final work A motivated, ambitious individual keen on bridging the gap between my passions in architecture, graphic design and curation. I've worked in architectural and design teams in London and China, and am keen to pursue and contribute to radical, inclusive & forward-thinking projects with a creative multidisciplinary approach. College Central Saint Martins Course BA (Hons) Architecture Graduation year 2025 Imagine a library x youth employment centre that acts as a physical hyperlink to knowledge, encouraging personal discovery through intuitive desire routes. ‘Hyperlink *?~.’ provides a community third place for people to explore their passions, build connections and discover a curiosity for learning. The library adopts the Warburg Classification system, which emphasises interdisciplinary knowledge, where every book is a 'good neighbour' to those beside it. Similarly, the concept of appropriating transitionary space is explored, as the proposal itself acts as a web of connecting paths, with a layout that intentionally navigates desire routes - reflecting how people want to move, not how they’re told to. This principle subverts traditional spatial hierarchies, promoting a sense of autonomy to the user as they stumble upon media according to their own curiosity and distractions, just as one might fall into an online rabbit hole. Getting lost isn’t a failure here; it’s a pedagogy. Final work Hyperlink *?~. proposal on site Guided by the bespoke reflective entrance canopy, poking at ones ego and innate vanity, users are invited to crane their head up to see themselves reflected, inducing themes of self identity and self reflection, imperative for the beginning of ones journey into Hyperlink. The building itself is comprised of 3D printed concrete and polycarbonate panelling. It sits adjacent to Regents Canal and is enveloped by a myriad of greenery & flora.
