Hi! My name is Kaitlyn Burnard, I have recently just completed my Foundation diploma year in art and design at UAL in the painting pathway. I am progressing to BA fine arts at Chelsea UAL this September. My practice is heavily focused around the human body, colour and expression using drawing and painting.

My project explores the connection and similarities between humans and plants. Growing up I was raised around vibrant colours of hibiscus flowers, loquat fruits, Bermudiana flowers, the bluest oceans with pink sands and the most colourful houses in the world, all painted different colours. As this project is meant to be a representation of myself, I wanted to form my inspiration around where I came from while also still exploring my interest in human anatomy by investigating the connection between the human body and nature. My initial inspiration was formed from my research of a local artist from Bermuda- Gherdai Hassell and her recent exhibition 'not all has to be as it was'.

Final work
