My project explores the overarching narrative arcs present in both christian practice and theology as-well as drug addiction, Such as Redemption which is a core principle of Christian theology, no matter how far someone has fallen, they can be rescued with faith. Drug addiction often follows a narrative arc in which people reach "rock bottom" and seek transformation or rehabilitation, often resulting in significant personal revelations. Christianity also frequently speaks of "dependence" on God and faith as sources of strength and salvation. Addiction is similar in its relentless dependency on substances, albeit in a destructive way. Both mean giving up a part of oneself to something larger, whether it be God or a substance. Both can also be seen as a way to transcend ordinary life. Christianity focuses on spiritual fulfilment, a connection with God, and liberation from sin, which can give meaning and purpose beyond the mundane. Similarly, drug addiction is often driven by a desire to escape pain, dissatisfaction, or the limits of reality.
