# Project Description Personal Progression Project Jiwoo Heo Summary Final work I’m Jiwoo Heo (Sarah) — a digital storyteller drawn to vintage technology, glitch aesthetics, and anything that blends the old with the new. My current work dives into generational gaps and how we communicate across them through animation and design. College School of Pre-Degree Studies Course Preparation for Design, Media and Screen Graduation year 2025 This project explores the digital divide between generations, developed under the theme of Science Communication and Technology . I was inspired by the communication gap I’ve often noticed between older and younger people in my own life — especially how my grandparents navigate (or struggle with) digital technology. Through a short animation, I visualise the contrast between analogue and digital communication: rotary phones and handwritten notes shift into smartphones and messaging apps. The work reflects on how rapidly evolving technology can create distance, even as it claims to connect us. Using visual rhythm and contrasting textures, the piece aims to express the emotional tension behind everyday communication. Final work Printshot Through this work, I explored the digital gap problem and symbolically expressed the difference between the times and technology. Through the combination of digital and analogue, I reinterpreted the daily behaviour of taking screenshots and storing conversations with smartphones through printing. As digital information is converted to analogue printing, it breaks down the boundaries of the two worlds and visually resolves the digital gap between generations that is gradually widening amid technological development. This process in which the content of the conversation appears in real physical form beyond the screen once again reflected on the impact of technology on human life through the interaction of digital data and analogue.
