The inspiration originates from Interslot, a modular construction toy housed in the Young V&A Museum. Composed of interlocking geometric shapes in various colors, Interslot allows users to create abstract, architectural forms.

This iterative design process involved sketching, vector-based modular planning, and prototyping using laser-cut colored cards to simulate interlocking behavior.

Final work

Practically, the project challenges traditional boundaries of typography by repositioning letter forms as buildable structures. This opens up opportunities for tactile, interactive, and interdisciplinary design applications that engage physical making alongside visual communication.

Research and process

During the design process, I continuously experimented with converting flat fonts into three-dimensional fonts and simplifying all geometric shapes used in the font as much as possible.

Influenced by the architecture designed by Tuomas Kivinen, I put together a set of type samples by combining the alphabet of the design as well as information from.
