Standard Emotions is a speculative interactive platform set in a fictional near-future corporation in which AI systems have profoundly reshaped human communication. Audiences step into the role of “users” to experience how emotional connection is mediated and standardised through the system.
Standard Emotions offers a multimodal system designed to optimise emotional expression in real time. Upon entering, users can access the emotion recognition interface to measure and adjust their facial expressions at any moment. The platform also provides services such as MoodMart and Social Hub, supporting emotion calibration across a range of social scenarios. Through cyclical interactions across distinct narrative modules, users gradually enter an environment for communication that is shaped by the system.
As AI, affective computing, and virtual interfaces continue to permeate everyday life, human communication is gradually adapting to algorithm-driven optimisation mechanisms. In this context, Standard Emotions reimagines the ways emotional expression evolves under technological transformation, presenting it as an immersive experience embedded within a sci-fi narrative. It invites audiences to engage with and reflect on how emotional expression may undergo shifts in complexity and authenticity in the future.
