Jiayang He

Profile picture of Jiayang He

I am a jewellery designer who draws with intention and adorns with imagination. My work lives where image meets object—where lines once meant to guide become the final gesture. I paint with enamel, echoing the soft shadows of grey paper renderings, and turn drawings into wearable thoughts. Trained in both design and the quiet language of painting, I create jewellery that doesn't just decorate, but speaks of process, of representation, and of the delicate tension between illusion and material.

Painting has always inspired Jiayang in her art and design practice. Through adopting jewellery design----the medium considered a symbol of permanence - Jiayang reassigns meaning to the painted image as a traditional means for capturing the evanescent. Utilising the technique of painting on enamel, Jiayang reimagines the craft and textural quality of two-dimensional art, mobilising its essence in a three-dimensional form that is wearable. Jiayang challenges the beholder to question the hierarchies of form and value, as well as perceptions of authenticity and imitation.
