In the tide of urban development, once-glorious places not only carry unforgettable histories but also reflect the trajectory of social change. However, with economic transitions, policy shifts, and cultural transformations, some once-thriving areas gradually become marginalized, eventually abandoned as ruins. These forgotten spaces bear witness to the rise and fall of eras, documenting the restructuring of society and the traces of human activity. This series of photographs was taken at a formerly bustling racecourse in Beijing. Once a bustling venue for competition and social gatherings, its glory was abruptly halted by the government’s gambling ban, leading to its eventual abandonment. Its decline symbolizes not only the end of an era but also the profound impact of policies and social evolution on urban spaces. By capturing these once-thriving yet now-forgotten spaces, I seek to explore their roles in social, economic, and cultural transformations, as well as how time shapes and erodes human-constructed environments. Through images, I convey the influence of time and society on space, highlighting the contrast between prosperity and decay as a reflection of historical and social change.

Finally, 'After the glory...' invites viewers to reconsider the fate of forgotten urban spaces and reflect on what is lost in the name of progress. It situates itself within broader discussions of urban transformation, historical erasure, and the social responsibility of photography as a visual medium.
