Swallow The Moulting Past

Jessie Jin

Summary

Final work

College Chelsea College of Arts

Course BA (Hons) Fine Art

Graduation year 2025

This body of work demonstrates my methodology of self-healing from the conflicts between me and my parents during childhood/youth period that caused some sort of intergenerational trauma (the previous generation may pass down the effect of trauma from their experience to their children through various ways and gives the next generation mental/emotional concerns such as anxiety/depression and this situation happened and still happening in many Asian families over centuries as one of the most important and serious social issues) and how we finally understand each other and talk through previous issues after collective learning in the west under alike systems. I hope my work can be seen as a positive example to those who are facing similar situations and could be inspired and lead them to reflect and act.
