# Project Description A Body Held, A Mother Formed Jenna Rubinstein Summary Final work My work exists in stillness. I create quiet, intimate, and sensual images that ask the viewer to pause; to breathe, to reflect, to connect. Working exclusively with film, I explore the deep relationship between the human body and nature; how the curve of a spine echoes the shape of a mountain, and how the roll of skin mirrors shifting dunes of sand. I am drawn to fluidity, non-linear boundaries, and the ways our bodies exist within and alongside the natural world. After completing my BA, I hope to engage with projects that offer fresh perspectives on visual communication. My practice is rooted in the intersection of art, fashion, and journalism, informed by a foundation in art history, publication design, and theoretical research developed throughout my studies. College London College of Communication Course BA (Hons) Photography Graduation year 2025 A Body Held, A Mother Formed is an ongoing project reimagining mothering beyond biology or gender, presenting it as an act of care, creation, and play. A male-presenting subject moves through silhouettes reminiscent of childhood—tulle, tights, and a swollen belly—evoking both the mother body and the uninhibited joy of dress-up. These abstractions challenge traditional moulds, embracing fluidity and non-linear boundaries. Boulders appear as recurring motifs, weathered forms that echo the mother body. Shot in black and white medium format, the images exist in stillness, inviting reflection. The work expands the definition of mothering, suggesting that its essence: nurturing, transforming and holding, is available to all.
