A Body Held, A Mother Formed is an ongoing project reimagining mothering beyond biology or gender, presenting it as an act of care, creation, and play. A male-presenting subject moves through silhouettes reminiscent of childhood—tulle, tights, and a swollen belly—evoking both the mother body and the uninhibited joy of dress-up. These abstractions challenge traditional moulds, embracing fluidity and non-linear boundaries. Boulders appear as recurring motifs, weathered forms that echo the mother body. Shot in black and white medium format, the images exist in stillness, inviting reflection. The work expands the definition of mothering, suggesting that its essence: nurturing, transforming and holding, is available to all.
