College School of Pre-Degree Studies Course UAL Foundation Diploma in Art and Design Graduation year 2025 My influences behind this project align with the aim for restoration of natural landscapes and reviving the earth beneath our feet. My theme arose from consideration towards my home environment, and growing up in a rural setting. Commuting between the countryside and London has helped me gain gratitude for the natural environment I have been brought up around. Regenerative agriculture is a pivotal movement for restoring the natural rhythms of ecosystems and working alongside nature rather than against it. Throughout this project I have explored the potentials of wetland plants and natural processes, demonstrating the uses of low-carbon-footprint materials within fashion and textiles practice. I wanted to portray amicability between two clashing concepts. My garment is constructed from willow, which offers a bold and resilient structure. Naturally dyed, recycled cotton was used to support my exploration of decorative surface design, displaying organic forms, patterns and mark-making. My hand-made clay buttons are symbolic of virtuous cycles, encouraging thorough consideration for the entire lifecycle of a garment and the impact it makes.
