Racings Mental Fatigue

James Hughes

Summary

Final work

I am a designer interested in combining unusual textile techniques with streetwear silhouettes and aesthetics. Often drawing upon the contrast of open natural spaces and urban environments/architecture due to my childhood in Cheshire and Manchester. I'll be studying LCF Menswear next year.

'Racings mental fatigue' looks at human emotion, mechanical fatigue and the dark psychology of racings drivers. How us as humans adapt and change naturally, creating these dark emotions while under pressure. I showed this through my material selection and development, having multiple layers that burned to reveal themselves, followed by tearing and distressing of the dark external layer. Showing crumbling on the outside, representing darkness with the flesh like look internally.
