Jacob Zang

Jacob Zang

Summary

Final work

Jacob Zang, a London-based dancer, choreographer, and theater maker. Building upon years of ballroom dance, his work continually explores the intersections of contemporary dance theater. Through visually compelling stage presentations, Zang aims to transport audiences into a world of tension and poetic expression.

Centered on the human body, Zang's work delves into the complexities of humanity, relationships, subcultures and the individual's place within society. By fusing dance with theater, music, and visual arts, he crafts multi-layered, multi-sensory artistic experiences. Through pushing physical limits and delicately portraying emotions, Zang seeks to provoke audiences to contemplate their own lives and interpersonal relationships.

Zang's creative inspiration is driven by his keen observation of life and his unwavering passion for art. He believes that art has the power to break down barriers, connect people, and foster positive social change.

Abyss

From the very first second we enter the world, we step into chaos.

This piece is a deep reflection on the experience of growing up —

from birth to the city, from longing to disappointment,

from being trapped to resisting.

I got lost in the brightness,

heard myself shatter in the silence.

It does not tell a complete story,

but unfolds as a process in which self-awareness is torn, tangled,

and reborn within the reality we face.

Action becomes language; the body, a container of memory.

I keep asking myself:

Why is beauty always temporary?

Must reality always be harsh?

If life is an abyss — can I choose not to jump?

This is one person’s monologue,

but maybe it resonates with many.

May you find, in this space, your own kind of escape —

or confrontation.
