Final work

Jàpá (an emotional migration memoir) short film

This project is an emotional memoir inspired by my recent relocation from Nigeria to the United Kingdom. With immigration on the rise due to the deteriorating conditions in my home country (Nigeria), this project strives to candidly convey the complex array of emotions that accompany leaving one's homeland, highlighting the emotional turmoil and ultimate triumphs experienced in the process. Ultimately, the outcome should vividly portray the challenges and victories that define an immigrant experience.

Isolation:

This visual direction explores the theme of isolation;

The theme of isolation manifests in urban and suburban settings, where a lone figure draped in vibrant African attire stands out against the backdrop of a bustling city. Through long-exposure techniques, I aim to convey the paradox of being surrounded by a crowd yet feeling profoundly alone, exploring the emotional landscape of isolation.

This is one of the key struggles of immigrants when they have just relocated from their home country to a foreign land.

Survival:

This visual direction explores the theme of survival;

In the realm of survival, the lens captures the metamorphosis of individuals navigating diverse work landscapes. Through a series of composite images in a dimly lit setting, I spotlight the challenges and compromises made in pursuit of stability, reflecting the often unseen transitions that unfold behind closed doors.

Loneliness:

This visual direction explores the theme of loneliness;

The solitude of 'Alone' is captured through intimate, dramatic portraits. Sitting on the bed, bathed in focused light, the subject contemplates their journey as they miss home. The Ankara motif, a symbolic companion as a Nigerian, embodies a reminder of home,

a moment of solace and evoking a poignant sense of solitude.
