Alby focuses on visually preserving memories since she was twelve, when her dad gifted her a humble Nikon EM film camera. She now documents other people's celebrations and, in personal projects, celebrates community, rollerskating in London, Blackness and funny little things she enjoys about British culture.

Alby’s work celebrates the London rollerskating scene, of which she is a proud member. The skate scene is colourful, fun, stimulating and unapologetically black. It is also mostly free! It is tangible community and it transformed Alby’s life three years ago when she learnt to skate. The community unites people of all backgrounds in our capital. Each skater grows in confidence and takes pride in their progress, supported by people who uplift and celebrate each other’s wins. The younger skaters get the opportunity to feel free and carve out their place in this city. Alby uses photography to share her appreciation of this community with others.
