Re:wear is a smart scent-monitoring hook designed to help users manage semi-worn clothing. By analysing odour changes over time, the system offers intuitive feedback on whether garments are still suitable to wear or need washing. Re:wear addresses common anxiety around clothing hygiene, particularly for items worn briefly or only once. It empowers users to reduce unnecessary laundry, save water and energy, and embrace a more sustainable wardrobe routine. With its minimal design and passive sensing function, Re:wear fits seamlessly into everyday home environments, making invisible freshness more visible.

Initial Research
From interviews with the Fifth Sense community, a UK charity supporting those with smell and taste disorders common behaviours emerged:
Overwashing clothes after a single wear, and relying on fragranced detergents for a sense of cleanness.
Without the ability to detect odour, even getting dressed becomes an emotional and social concern.

User Journey with re:wear

System Overview
re:wear doesn’t analyse scent profiles, it tracks how freshness fades over time. re:wear monitors how clothes absorb and release odours.
A fresh garment starts at 100%.
When freshness drops, the app gives you a nudge.
