# Project Description Hiraeth Huw Edwin Dickinson Summary Final work College Central Saint Martins Course BA (Hons) Graphic Communication Design Graduation year 2025 "Hiraeth" Queer culture has learnt to thrive in the urban, but it is not where it always originated – it is where it migrated to. “Hiraeth” is a film about the intersectionality of queer identity and rurality, set against the panoramic backdrop of Llangollen in North Wales. Tensions rise surrounding morality and tradition when a young boy is confronted by his sexuality - putting to the test his relationship with the environment that has been a constant sanctuary, yet which has simultaneously trapped him his whole life. Final work Hiraeth Hiraeth as a project was a pivotal moment of personal growth as a filmmaker, producer, and inquisitive maker. Watching it take form between the stages of initial conception to letting it meet audiences on the last day in the cutting room felt like learning curve after learning curve — and constant validation that this industry of worldbuilding and storytelling is one I am glad to be a part of. The narrative itself, and the people I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with throughout this film’s process of development, have only further enthused my appetite for producing emotive works with an approach to making that is honest, empathetic, and aspiring to portray stories with the justice they deserve.
