Hello, my name is Genevieve LaValle! I am a hard-working costume practitioner and graduate from London College of Fashion with a degree in Costume for Performance. I have experience in everything from ballet and opera to music and fashion, and am a strong believer that all clothing tells a story no matter the performance context.

While completing my degree, I have had the opportunity to be a part of some amazing projects, which have allowed me to explore all parts of the industry and led me to discover my strength in contemporary and historical pattern cutting and construction. I also gravitate towards using the more “difficult materials” such as leather and silk chiffon. I push myself in everything I do and am always eager to broaden my skill set. Working across many different aspects of the industry has also strengthened my ability to adapt to various performance contexts, blending functionality with artistic vision to help bring characters and concepts to life.

I am eager to continue developing my craft in environments that inspire and challenge me. Whether that is in theatre, film, or fashion, I am passionate about using costume as a storytelling tool and collaborating with others to bring stories to life.

Inspired by Canto 30 from Purgatorio, the film follows three symbolic characters (Sin, Vice, and Virtue) on a journey from earthly darkness to divine enlightenment. Closely tied to the epic’s themes, these characters embody stages of transformation: Sin, inspired by Inferno, represents self-deception and despair. Vice, inspired by Dante, embodies self-discovery and is caught between Sin’s influence and Virtue’s guidance. Lastly, Virtue, inspired by Beatrice, embodies grace and divine love.
