Embodying the Space

Gayoung Noh

I am a designer who captures emotional moments in everyday urban life through objects and architecture. Seeing clothing as the smallest form of a home, she creates garments that connect people to space, memory, and feeling. Her work combines an engineering perspective with poetic sensitivity, reinterpreting form and meaning through a structured yet expressive design process.

This project began as a journey to build space and discover mental ease within it. I sought to create areas that evoke a sense of calm— and to expand that emotional comfort through design.

Focusing on how compact and dense structures could unfold to reveal new vacant, I explored this using origami-inspired techniques such as the starshade and folding techniques. I also applied the idea of space itself as a source of emotional comfort, developing patterns from that concept and using jersey fabric to express softness and stability.
