Course M ARCH: Architecture

Graduation year 2025

A look into the military history of the Gurkhas in the British Army through the lens of an emerging diaspora within the UK, specifically from the perspective of Gurkha daughters.

Using hand drawings and photography as methods of remembering and documenting the existing presence of the Gurkha identity within the public and the private sphere in the UK. Through conversations and illustrations from memory – as acts of remembrance – an architectural language can be translated and developed to imagine futures for the Gurkha community; referencing the homeland, the new home and the wider military context.
