My final project 'Barfrau-Puppe' is an ode to the chaos and grotesque of working behind a bar. All I remember from the summer is working 60 odd hours a week and late nights to serve customers while barely awake myself. A dive in the deep end of working in the hospitality industry exposed me to a whirlwind of emotions and realities of the sticky surfaces, spilled and smashed drinks, dirty out-of-sight areas.Through textures and unconventional materials that evoke feelings of both awe and grotesque, and slightly irrational shapes and details reminiscent of a bartender's uniform I aim to turn dissonance, delirium and disorientation into their visual expression.
