# Project Description Collaborative project Excitable Summary Final work 6 Contributors College Central Saint Martins Course MA Art And Science Graduation year 2025 EXCITABLE, a public participatory performance event, took place in April 2024 and was part of the Membranes Exhibition at the Hypha Gallery, Stratford. Conceived by me, it was created and delivered by a team of collaborators from MA Art and Science. The work uses the physiology of nerve impulses and nerve cell membranes as a metaphor for overcoming personal barriers in life through cooperation. Before the event, we set out a course for dominoes on the floor of the gallery, with purple on one side and orange on the other - colours associated with the chemistry of the ions involved in nerve conduction. Over the day, visitors joined artists in setting up a run of several thousand dominoes. At the end of the day, a visitor was chosen by lottery to push over the first domino. Artists ran alongside the collapsing row spraying paint on both sides, a reference to the nature of the unstoppable chemical reactions that underlie impulses in the body's excitable tissues.
