This project explores the intersection of hyper-connectivity and isolation in urban life, utilising the uncanny aspects of Japanese folklore and horror to reflect emotional dissonance. My fascination with the bizarre and uncanny serves as the main inspiration for this work. The project explores these interests through Lafcadio Hearn’s translated novels, “Japanese Ghost Stories” and “Kwaidan: Tales and Other Stories.” It focuses on the myths and urban legends surrounding the supernatural and spirits during Japan's (15th century) Edo period. The project aims to create a modern interpretation of otherworldly ghosts wandering through a concrete labyrinth.
