# Project Description Lifegiving, Clogged Duct Esmé Matthews Summary Final work Esmé Matthews is a contemporary artist whose practice explores the tension between creation and decay, focusing on material transformation and the natural process of entropy. Working primarily with rusted steel, found objects, and other industrial materials, she investigates the life cycle of these objects- examining how they shift between states of order and disorder, structure and ruin. College Chelsea College of Arts Course Graduate Diploma Fine Art Graduation year 2025 This work is an investigation into entropy and the tension between creation and decay. The installation shows a bottle actively rusting a piece of steel, slowing dripping vinegar from a nipple onto the metal. In conjunction is an object made from rusted nails and rubber nipples secured to a discarded bottle, existing as a found object in a decrepit windowsill. These objects are found in an abandoned home, blending with the ruin that comes with time.
