# Project Description

The Mindless Form

Eloise Kerr

Summary

Final work

I am a British fashion student inspired by nature’s rhythms and emotional landscapes. I use texture and fabric as expressive tools to explore identity, vulnerability, and mental health. I create garments that evolve as sculptural narratives and offer a sense of recognition, resonance, and quiet strength to those who feel unseen.

My Final Major Project, The Mindless Form, reflects my interpretation of a body stripped of consciousness as an empty, motionless shell. I began this journey through the lens of mind-body dualism, captivated by the notion that the mind exists independently from the physical form. As the project evolved, I developed a deeper philosophical connection to this concept, ultimately manifesting a form that is mindless yet structurally human. I drew parallels between human anatomy in relation to nature’s manifestations, finding profound inspiration in wave-sculpted sand ripples, which shaped the flow and texture of my garment. The mask symbolizes the fragility and intangibility of human connection like how we speak, emote, and exist as sentient beings, yet often remain unseen.
