Ellen Isbell

Summary

Final work

Hello my name is Ellen and i am currently graduating from UAL, as a hair and makeup for fashion student. I’d like to say i am a professional hard worker who is well mannered and allow to push myself to the best that i can achieve, in every aspect whether it is inside and outside of University. Throughout my work and growth i ensure to experience with a variety of styles to develop more skills for myself and to find out what i like and dislike,  i am confident to play with multiple techniques and platforms. When working on projects i tend to find myself pouring a lot of emotion and depth  into them, especially with the project i am showcasing. My approach to any work is determined but allowing myself to be creative and being okay with a set back, it is important for me to approach my work with a strong idea that i can evaluate on whilst exploring through my passion of hair and makeup, specifically makeup. From my first year to my finale year, I have learned myself all over again and what i am truly like as a makeup artist, i look forward to leveraging my experiences and skills into my future and to drive my growth and efficiency further to make year one me proud of the success i have gone on to achieve now and towards the future.

Graduation year 2025

The chosen four images for my showcase, it felt right to present my last finale project. For end of year PPP, i wanted to create something incredible meaningful to me that i could express to my limits and so my faith and religion is intensely pure and important to me, this had led me into creating a safe space for me to express. These photos represent two different themes one being inspiration from Gothic and Baroque architecture which the history is built upon Christianity and the other represents beauty within the Bible not literal but symbolic and metaphorical. I wanted to mentally and emotionally connect with my religion and for it to be physically represented, i named it “Restoring the Faith” as i would like people to feel connected again with their faith if it has left them or to start their journey. This was a beautiful project for me to create and explore through my passion for hair and makeup.

The Gothic & Baroque of Christianity

This photo here represents my inspiration that i had throughout researching the history of Gothic and Baroque architecture that stems from Christianity. The rhinestones on the lips represents the architecture.

The Gothic and Baroque of Christianity

This photo here represents my inspiration that i had throughout researching the history of Gothic and Baroque architecture that stems from Christianity. The colours used on the face are connected to the colour palette of this specific architecture.

The Beauty Within The Bible

This photo represents my research and inspiration from beauty within the Bible and how it is portrayed as symbolic in a metaphorical way instead of literal. I wanted the beauty to be seen on the face, this is my reasoning for the extent use of brightening some products, some colour i have used resemble the standard colour palettes of the word beauty.

The Beauty Within The Bible

This photo represents my research and inspiration from beauty within the Bible and how it is portrayed as symbolic in a metaphorical way instead of literal. I wanted the beauty to be seen on the face and some certain styling, the feeling from this image is purity and how pure beauty is spoken about in the Bible.
