A short film adapted from the second half of ‘The Epic of Gilgamesh,’ represented by the words “Home, Journey, Grounding.” After losing his friend the two-thirds god one-third human king, Gilgamesh, is afraid to follow his friend to the underworld. He refuses his fate and embarks on a quest to find the only human to ever become a god and asks him for a challenge. Gilgamesh immediately fails at his task and must return home empty handed. Yet he is a changed man, more grounded, less arrogant, and grateful for what the world has to offer him. “Home, Journey, Grounding” also represents what the world has to offer us; the costumes created for this project are entirely built with pre-owned, repurposed and recycled materials – the intentionality of using nothing new to make something new.
