The World Inside Teapot

Duangnai Kitiyakara Na Ayudhaya

Summary

Final work

My name is Duangnai “Warhw” Kitiyakara Na Ayudhaya.

I am 19 years old and from Thailand. I love textile design because it allows me to be creative and work with patterns and textures. I enjoy drawing, weaving, and knitting, which help me express my ideas in unique ways.

Next year, I will start studying for a BA in Textile Design at Central Saint Martins. I am excited to learn more and improve my skills to create innovative textile designs that tell stories and show the beauty of different cultures.

My progression project is about “Teapots”.

I used teapots as an inspiration for my textile ideas. I studied teapot patterns from different parts of the world. I found it very interesting to see how one object could be made in many ways, using different materials and techniques by various groups of people from different cultures. I chose this topic because my grandmother loves collecting teapots from places she has travelled to, and I have been admiring her collection since I was young. I have been impressed by handcraft techniques and drawing pattern designs. I want to turn them into fashion textiles by using weave, knit and print technique. I also applied fun ideas and patterns such as teapot houses and teapots with floral designs, in my work.
