My work explores the complex, evolving relationship between online and offline social interactions through contemporary jewellery design, presented in three series: Isolation, Conflict, and Symbiosis.

Inspired by the concept of “green ruins,” offline social interaction is likened to decaying ruins, represented by copper with patina and rust textures, symbolizing its organic and weathered nature. In contrast, online social interaction is depicted with polished silver and blue elements, representing smooth, digital connections. The fragmented, folded forms emphasize the incomplete yet growing interplay between these two realms, reflecting the tension, division, and gradual integration of online and offline experiences.

ISOLATION

This series represents the early stages of the separation between online and offline social interaction, highlighting the emotional and social distance that individuals feel in digital spaces. The designs emphasize fragmentation and loneliness, and the closed, fragmented structures represent the barriers and loneliness that people experience when they are disconnected from others.

CONFLICT

The second series delves into the tension between online and offline socializing. As these two spaces attempt to interact, they clash and fight for dominance. The design reflects the opposition and friction, utilizing stark contrasts and overlapping elements to symbolize the push and pull in this ever-changing relationship.

SYMBIOSIS

The final series embodies the balance that comes from resolving the conflict between online and offline sociality. These designs symbolize harmony and coexistence, where the boundaries between the two spaces become blurred and begin to support and complement each other. Organic, flowing forms are combined with structural elements to reflect a new state of peaceful interdependence and common growth.
