Footsteps in Chaoshan is a graphic memoir that documents the author’s journey back to her hometown for fieldwork and local interviews, exploring regional culture. Through ethnographic methods such as observational drawing, photography, and archival research, this visual narrative spans local landscapes, vernacular architecture, folk legends, and ceremonial festivals. Rooted in both personal and collective memory, the work invites readers to rediscover a land deeply embedded in history and emotion, while exploring and reconstructing its cultural identity and sense of belonging.
