My project explored alter egos, the final work considered what my own alter ego could be, representing the different characteristics that make up my personality. Through researching Nagualism, I explored what animal I resonated with and how this links into my persona. I tapped into the concepts of the ‘strange’ and ‘uncanny’ by creating a mask of my own face, giving a sense of familiarity and discomfort.

Final work

A drawing of a person with a mask. 3 other drawings of masks are laid out on top of the page.

Alternating Facade

Research and process

  • A mask on a wall. Representing a face.
  • A mask on a wall. Painted in pink. Resembling a face.
  • Picture taken of myself wearing a goat mask I had made. I am centred in the picture, wearing a black suit and am standing in the middle of a field.
  • Sketchbook pages detailing designs for the masks.
