Here and There links young people with their community through material exploration, practical skills and regenerative design.

How do materials and processes connect places, people and their communities?

Focussing on my borough, Hackney, I experimented with materials through weaving - historically important in East London - working with newspaper, leather and human hair.

I also interviewed friends and community groups.

The work emerged as three parts:

a stool, made from reclaimed materials

a workshop for young people, to make the stool

open-source instructions to replicate the stool

Whoever makes the stool, they have a piece of ‘Here’ to take ‘There’.
