Transparency in Mid-Market Fashion: How Disclosure in Textile Production Influences Gen Z’s Trust and Loyalty in North America

Final work

Transparency in Mid-Market Fashion: How Disclosure in Textile Production Influences Gen Z’s Trust and Loyalty in North America

This project investigates how transparency in textile production processes influences Generation Z’s trust and loyalty toward mid-market fashion brands in North America. The study addresses the growing demand for sustainable and ethical practices in the fashion industry, which is often criticised for environmental harm, poor labour conditions, and greenwashing. By combining qualitative interviews with industry professionals and quantitative surveys with Gen Z consumers, the research explores how brands communicate transparency, how young consumers perceive and evaluate these efforts, and under what conditions transparency builds trust and long-term loyalty. The findings aim to provide actionable recommendations for fashion brands on aligning sustainability messaging with Gen Z expectations, supporting both academic understanding and industry strategies to foster more authentic and credible brand-consumer relationships.
