How can the sensory experience of love be manifested and communicated through digitally mediated systems?

This project begins with a critical awareness of the absence of sensation in digitally mediated systems, especially about love. Love is not just an emotion, but a sensory experience. The project explores how the experience of love can be reconstructed sensorially through design.

The love letter, a classical form, is a methodological tool to experiment with the recovery of sensation. It offers a familiar and structured medium for emotional delivery while standing in contrast to fast and standardised digital communication systems.

In this project, love letters are reimagined not as text-based messages, but as forms of sensory memory. Participants send letters through visual and auditory senses, which are then archived in both a web-based archive and a physical box. By allowing emotions to be ‘sent’ and ‘received’ through the senses, without relying on language, the project seeks to expand the possibilities of sensory communication.

Ultimately, it asks:

How can the sensory experience of love be manifested and communicated through digitally mediated systems?
