The latest estimates from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation warn that more than half of the world's marine species could be on the brink of extinction by 2100, with widespread coral bleaching and reef degradation. If we create a coral ark, can it change the relationship between marine life and coral, human and ocean, as well as land and marine ecosystem? Can the "planktonic ARK" give marine life more possibilities to survive, and provide a chance for sustainable designs?
Final work
Planktonic ARK
The intervention's aim is the cooperation of human and non-human actors in the creation of the new coral forest. The function of the project relies on this cooperation thus the marine life can use this model to hide predator and live in these spaces, while the coral model can also promote coral population reproduction.
