This collection is a reflection of my dual heritage, blending the structure and precision of classical English tailoring with the vibrant, organic beauty of traditional Sri Lankan dyeing techniques, particularly using turmeric. Each garment becomes a dialogue between cultures - the clean, refined lines of British craftsmanship meet the bold, natural unpredictability of South Asian colour. Through this fusion, I celebrate the hybridity of who I am: not one or the other, but a harmonious interplay of both, creating a distinctive look that brings together people, cultures, and ideas.
Final work
Look 1
Look 1 consists of three garments: a denim oversized tailored waistcoat, denim tailored trousers, and a black mesh long sleeve top.
The oversized tailored waistcoat is crafted from dark navy denim, with a lining and pocket linings made from naturally dyed turmeric cotton. It features two inseam pockets lined with the same denim, and one welt pocket lined with turmeric-dyed cotton.
The tailored trousers are also made from dark navy denim and have pocket linings in naturally dyed turmeric cotton. They include two inseam pockets lined with denim, and two welt pockets lined with both denim and turmeric-dyed cotton.
The long sleeve top is made from black stretch mesh. The shoulder and side seams are constructed with a white contrast butt seam. Each sleeve features a 6cm gather at the cuff to add volume and texture.
Look 2
Look 2 features two garments: a white one-shoulder draped top and green tailored trousers.
The one-shoulder draped top, including its lining, is made from white cotton. It fastens at the side with a buttoned placket. The pleats are adjustable, allowing the wearer to manipulate the drape to their preference.
The tailored trousers are made from a thick green acetate fabric, with pocket linings in naturally dyed turmeric cotton. They include two slanted pockets and two welt pockets, all lined with turmeric-dyed cotton.
Look 3
Look 3 includes two garments: an oversized knit jumper and a white wrap tie skirt.
The oversized knit jumper is made from faux mohair, which is naturally dyed with turmeric after the garment is fully constructed.
The wrap tie skirt, including its lining and tie, is made from white cotton. The tie features a circular design element, adding an extra layer of visual interest.
