Could ancient mythology hold important clues for new scientific discoveries? Could the condition of the ruin inspire us to rethink our relationship with time and nature?
Aiming towards an “Ancient Future”, the Laboratory of Myth welcomes scientists, mythologists and curious visitors to reconsider our merely scientific and cognitive approach to the environment. Offering a space for scientific knowledge, mythology and ritualistic performance to collide, the proposal celebrates the unpredictability of the elements by encouraging a renewal of sacredness towards nature.
Emerging from the ruins of a Church, the Laboratory is a collage of ruined materials: incomplete sand-casted elements, burnt timber and rusted steel which remind us that everything experiences transformation.Understanding the condition of the ruin as trapped between two worlds and two times, the Laboratory of Myth has been shaped as a whisper of the past as well as of the future.
