This collection is the generosity of the people who came before us. The struggles people went through before us and for us. People who took agonisingly long and treacherous journeys to come here, people who changed their own names in order to be employable and to make a basic living. The people who were not welcomed here and still in some ways aren't. The people responsible for economic growth and booming business but also the worlds scapegoat. Nadav is the Hebrew word meaning generosity. The word itself lends to the ethos of the brand celebrating the people who came before us. It is also my Middle name so on a personal level it resonates with me. Nadav aims to honour the past but looks to the future as we are the ones who mould it. Our mission is to make the garments of beauty, a celebration of those whose made beauty out of what they had on their backs. Nadav’s garments are made with the purpose of longevity and poise. Starting with garments more focused in workwear, they were made too recognise the people who came here with nothing and worked jobs to build themselves and the people around them. They were Carpenters and Woodworkers, and Butchers, Fishmongers and Blacksmiths, But also Designers, Seamstresses and Tailors, and Mechanics and Factory Workers. To celebrate their journey and sacrifice we make our garments with them in mind. Their history, woven into the fabric of our garments. Their stories, at the forefront of this collection, and their legacy, is what we aim to memorialise.
