Profile picture of Avni Jain

I’m an Indian designer who blends cultural heritage with contemporary design to create meaningful, accessible products. My work brings together traditional Indian metalworking techniques and modern machinery, with the aim of preserving cultural identity through carefully crafted, scalable pieces. By bridging the past and present, I hope to offer a fresh perspective on heritage — creating work that invites curiosity, connection, and a sense of belonging.

My work explores how modern design can be inspired by personal religion and cultural heritage. Inspired by Jainism’s and its principle of non-violence and spiritual liberation, Tail of Two Metals incorporates the symbolic meaning of the fish and vessel, representing the 18th Tirthankara, Aranatha Ji. The tail represents progress toward moksha (liberation), while the vessel reflects spiritual flow.

Handcrafted from bronze and steel, the sculpture combines traditional metalworking techniques, including hammering, bending, texturing, and assembly, to balance narrative with material clarity. The result is a decorative yet significant item that combines design with personal beliefs.
