‘Perceive Me’

Austeja Zelenkovaite

A stylist and creative producer who focuses on themes surrounding femininity in fashion. Using styling as a powerful tool of nonverbal communication by designing visual narratives.

Often influenced by personal experiences, using garment customisation and experimental techniques in styling and post-production to reflect on societal themes. Aiming to challenge societal standards around beauty and gender while focusing on environmental sustainability issues within my work. Using the creative process as a form of visual storytelling to produce concept-driven outcomes.

‘Perceive Me’ is a photobook exploring how young women navigate self-image, social pressure, and perception in a society shaped by the male gaze and toxic beauty standards. Rooted in personal experience, the project examines how social media distorts both self-perception and how individuals are perceived by others. Presented through two contrasting narratives, featuring models in shapewear and underwear, critiquing beauty standards perpetuated by pop culture and highlighting emotional vulnerability. Then reimagining the same models through my own stylistic lens, examining the tension between authenticity and external perception.
